(KPL/VNA) Laos will launch a trial version of its new Digital Arrival Registration system from September 1.
The Immigration Department under the Ministry of Public Security of Laos announced on August 26 that the digital registration system will initially be piloted at four key international entry points, namely Wattay International Airport in Vientiane, Luang Prabang International Airport, Pakse International Airport, and the First Lao-Thai Friendship Bridge linking Vientiane with Thailand’s Nong Khai province.
Foreigners entering or exiting at the airport border gates need to register in advance via the website www.immigration.gov.la to receive a QR code valid for three days and show it at the border gate. Through the online platform, travelers will not have to fill out the traditional paper-based immigration forms.
According to the plan, after the trial phase, from the beginning of 2026, the online registration system will be officially applied at all border gates across Laos, completely replacing paper procedures.
The application of digital technology in immigration procedures is expected to save time for tourists and investors, while improving the management efficiency of authorities.
