Lao Women's Union Marks 70th Anniversary with National Celebration

ຂປລ On July 10, 2025 – The Central Lao Women's Union hosted a grand event at the Lao-ITECC Shopping Center to mark the 70th anniversary of the Lao Women’s Union (July 20, 1955 – July 20, 2025). The celebration was graced by Prime Minister Sonexay Siphandone, Mrs. Naly Sisoulith (First Lady), ministers, deputy ministers, Women’s Union leaders, international partners, and women representatives from across the country.

(KPL) On July 10, 2025 – The Central Lao Women's Union hosted a grand event at the Lao-ITECC Shopping Center to mark the 70th anniversary of the Lao Women’s Union (July 20, 1955 – July 20, 2025). The celebration was graced by Prime Minister Sonexay Siphandone, Mrs. Naly Sisoulith (First Lady), ministers, deputy ministers, Women’s Union leaders, international partners, and women representatives from across the country.

In her opening speech, Mrs. Ali Vongnambountham, President of the Central Lao Women’s Union, emphasized the historical role of Lao women:

 “Lao women have stood beside men in every era—from the national liberation struggle to today’s development—making vital contributions to nation-building.”

The event features a week-long series of activities (July 7–13), including:

Exhibitions on women's role in national liberation and development

Educational seminars on women’s health, culture, entrepreneurship, and environmental issues

Blood donation and free health check-ups

Product displays from 13 ministries and agencies, provincial Women’s Unions, and over 100 ethnic women entrepreneurs.

Visitors can explore more than 2,000 locally made products, from handwoven textiles and traditional clothing to food, beverages, and crafts across 137 booths.

The event aims to empower Lao women, promote their businesses, and help uplift their communities economically and socially.
