(KPL) A signing ceremony for the Health Sciences University Hospital Construction Project (LAO-15) took place on June 19 in Vientiane. The agreement was signed between the Ministry of Health and the Korean company ILSUNG.

The event was attended by Minister of Health Mr. Bounfeng Phoummalaysith and ILSUNG Director Mr. LEE Sang-Hyun. Also present were the Ambassador of the Republic of Korea to Laos, Mr. Jung Yung Soo, the Deputy Minister of Health, and representatives from both sides.

This will be the first university hospital in Laos. The project is funded by a soft loan from the Republic of Korea, totaling USD 120 million. The Lao government is contributing an additional USD 21 million.

The hospital will be built in Ban Dongphosy, Hatxayfong District, Vientiane Capital. It will have 400 beds and serve multiple purposes: treating patients, training health professionals, and supporting medical research. The hospital will support services at all levels—from central and provincial hospitals to district clinics and health centers, both public and private.

In addition to treatment and training, the hospital will serve as a research center to help improve national health policies and treatment methods. It will also feature a simulation center, modern medical equipment, learning tools, and a digital Health Information System (HIS).

The project will include modern, environmentally friendly buildings designed for accessibility and safety. Most of the equipment and technology will be imported from Korea.

Construction is set to begin at the end of 2025 and is expected to be completed by 2028.
