(KPL) On June 14, 2025, Mr. Bounserth Setthirath, Deputy Governor of Attapeu Province, visited Sanamxay District to inspect flood-affected areas. He was joined by members of the Provincial and District Disaster Management Committees and other officials.
Heavy rain from June 11 to 13, caused by a tropical cyclone, led to floods in eight villages. Water from Sekong Province added to the rising level of the Sekong River. Roads were cut off, and farmland—especially rice, corn, and cassava fields—was submerged.
Mr. Bounserth instructed local officials to closely monitor the river. He urged them to prepare boats, life jackets, and evacuation plans for people, livestock, and belongings.
Once the floodwaters recede, the Agriculture and Forestry Office will provide seeds and assess the damage.
