(KPL) The Mala Stupa Festival is set to take place from February 10 to 12 in Thoulakhom district, Vientiane Province, according to a meeting held on January 31.

The meeting, chaired by Thoulakhom district’s Vice Governor Kikham Vongxay, was attended by representatives of relevant authorities.

Mrs. Kongkeo Khamphanh, Chief of Nakhong village, informed the meeting that the festival will feature a goods exhibition, a food fair showcasing local specialties such as khao lam (sweetened sticky rice mixed with chopped taro and coconut milk, roasted in bamboo tubes) and ping kai (grilled chicken).

Agricultural and handicraft products, along with One District One Product (ODOP) items, will also be on display.

The festival will highlight cultural traditions with a wax castle procession, an elephant parade, and a horse procession.

Representatives from the business community and financial institutions will also participate in the event.

Mrs. Kongkeo emphasized that the festival aims to preserve the rich cultural heritage of Thoulakhom district and Vientiane Province, reflecting the traditions and customs of its diverse ethnic communities.

Additionally, the event seeks to promote tourism and boost local income generation.
