(KPL) On September 15, 2026, Ms. Suansavanh Viyaket, Minister of Culture and Tourism, received the Executive Committee of the Lao Khaen Sound Association. The delegation was led by Mr. Chaleun Yiapaoher, former member of the Party Central Committee, former Vice President of the National Assembly, and Honorary President of the Association. The visit aimed to report on the association's ongoing activities and receive guidance from high-level Party and State leadership.

During the meeting, Mr. Chaleun outlined the association's key initiatives. Following the inscription of the Lao khaen music tradition onto UNESCO's Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity, the association has requested approval from higher authorities for suitable state land to construct a Lao Khaen Tradition Museum. Dedicated to cultural preservation, the proposed museum will serve as a hub to support khaen craftsmen and players, honoring an instrument and sound deeply intertwined with the lifestyle and traditions of the Lao people.

In response, Minister Suansavanh warmly welcomed the delegation and commended the association's dedication to safeguarding the Lao khaen and khaen music—invaluable cultural treasures passed down through generations. Addressing the proposal for land allocation to build the museum, she stated that the Ministry will submit the request to higher authorities for further consideration.
