(KPL) The export of agricultural produce in the first three months of 2023 reached over 3.03 million tons, worth over 507 million US dollars, a rise of 5% year on year.
Mr. Bounchan Kombounyasith, Director General, Department of Agriculture, Ministry of Agricuture and Forestry said that Laos’ major agricultural exports include 1.9 million tons of cassava (fresh, dried and floured), over 230,987 tons of sugar cane, 269,979 tons of banana, 86,420 tons of water melon, and 49,325 tons of maize. Major export markets for Laos’ agricultural produce include China, Vietnam and Thailand.
Meanwhile, the import of agricultural produce and products in the first quarter have reached 98,671 tons, worth 21.48 million US dollars, a rise of 18% year on year, mainly from Vietnam, Thailand, India, U.S., China, Belgium and Sweden.
