Laos’ ASEAN Chairmanship preparations discussed

ຂປລ (KPL) The National Steering Committee on Preparation and Implementation of ASEAN Chairmanship of Laos PDR 2024 convened a meeting to discuss progress made in preparation for Laos’ ASEAN Chairmanship 2024 in Vientiane on Mar 23. Chaired by Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Saleumxay Kommasith who is also Vice President of the national steering committee, the meeting was attended by ministers, and representatives of relevant ministries and organizations.

(KPL) The National Steering Committee on Preparation and Implementation of ASEAN Chairmanship of Laos PDR 2024 convened a meeting to discuss progress made in preparation for Laos’ ASEAN Chairmanship 2024 in Vientiane on Mar 23.

Chaired by Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Saleumxay Kommasith who is also Vice President of the national steering committee, the meeting was attended by ministers, and representatives of relevant ministries and organizations.

The meeting aimed to materialize the guidance given by Prime Minister Sonexay Siphandone at the National Steering Committee on Preparation and Implementation of the Laos PDR’s ASEAN Chairmanship 2024 which was held in Vientiane on Feb 9.

The participants were briefed about preparations made with respect to ASEAN Chairmanship theme and logo design, ASEAN Chairmanship priorities for all three pillars of ASEAN Community (Political-Security Community, Economic Community and Socio-Cultural Community), accommodations for state and government leaders, delegates and foreign journalists, meeting venues, communication and internet facilities, liaison officers (LO) and volunteers (VO).

During the meeting, the Deputy Prime Minister urged relevant sub committees to focus on addressing pressing issues on the designing of ASEAN Chairmanship theme and logo, ASEAN Chairmanship priorities, and accommodations of foreign leaders.
