(KPL) Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Saleumxay Kommasith completed his official visit to Hungary from Nov 2-4.

 The visit of Deputy Prime Minister Saleumxay aimed to strengthen and enhance the long-standing cooperation between Laos and Hungary. The relationship has been upgraded to a strategic partnership since 2019.

During the visit, two countries have celebrated the 60th anniversary of diplomatic relations (September 12, 1962-September 12, 2022).

At a bilateral meeting, two leaders have reviewed and appreciated the good cooperation between Laos and Hungary, which based on friendship, understanding and mutual assistance.

 Two sides have so far exchanged visits of high-level delegations of the two countries regularly. At the same time, the two sides also encouraged the implementation of the Lao-Hungary project under interest-free loans to complete according to the plan and reiterated the continuation of the implementation of the experience exchange program for young diplomats of the two Ministries of Foreign Affairs of Laos and Hungary.

Two sides have signed a memorandum of understanding on educational cooperation, which the Hungary continued to provide scholarships to Lao students for the year 2023-2025 amount to 150 scholarships per year. Currently, around 400 Lao students have been studying in Hungary.
