(KPL) On November 13, Vice President of the National Assembly, Mrs. Sounthone Xayachack, warmly welcomed a delegation of people of Lao descent living abroad.

The Lao diaspora delegation is visiting their motherland to participate in the first annual gathering for overseas Lao people, aimed at strengthening unity, friendship, and mutual support.

Mrs. Xayachack expressed her heartfelt welcome and high appreciation for the Lao diaspora, emphasizing that the Lao government views them as an integral part of the national family. She noted their vital role in the country's development and in fostering international cooperation between the Lao PDR and the countries in which they reside.

The Lao government is strongly committed to fostering unity and affection among domestic and overseas Lao people. It encourages pride in Lao heritage and patriotism, hoping to inspire contributions toward the national development and prosperity of their motherland.

In line with this mission, the government has implemented an open policy to welcome Lao nationals back to the country.

The National Assembly has introduced various policies and legislation to support the Lao diaspora, helping them better understand the government's policies.

Since 1990, the number of overseas Lao people returning to their homeland has steadily increased. Additionally, more entrepreneurs, experts, and professionals of Lao origin are investing and doing business in the Lao PDR.

Mrs. Xayachack also called on the Lao diaspora to preserve the rich cultural heritage of Laos and to continue working with the Lao government to achieve even greater prosperity for their motherland.
