(KPL) On the sidelines of the 8th Greater Mekong Subregion Summit, the 11th Cambodia-Laos-Myanmar-Vietnam Summit, and the 10th Ayeyawady-Chao Phraya-Mekong Economic Cooperation Strategy Summit, held from Nov. 6-7, 2024, in Kunming, China, Prime Minister Sonexay Siphandone engaged in bilateral discussions with his Vietnamese counterpart, Pham Minh Chinh.
The two leaders exchanged views on advancing cooperation between their countries.
Both sides underscored the great friendship, special solidarity, and comprehensive cooperation between the two Parties, governments, and people of Laos and Vietnam.
They acknowledged the significant and sustained growth of these ties and discussed measures to further strengthen collaboration in priority areas. The two leaders agreed to build upon the progress of recent state visit to Vietnam by Secretary General and President Thongloun Sisoulith, as well as the outcomes of the Lao-Vietnamese Politburo Meeting.
The leaders prioritized joint projects, including infrastructure connectivity with a focus on the Vientiane-Hanoi Expressway, as well as integration projects in finance and energy sectors.
Prime Minister Sonexay also expressed Laos' sincere appreciation for the support of the Vietnamese Party, government, and people, particularly during Laos' 2024 ASEAN Chairmanship and its role as host of the 45th General Assembly of the ASEAN Inter-Parliamentary Assembly (AIPA), which contributed greatly to the success of these efforts.
Both sides reaffirmed their commitment to mutual support in bilateral and multilateral forums at regional and international levels.
KPL
