ຂປລ The Ministry of Health is preparing to strengthen its organizational structure and develop a more professional healthcare workforce under its five-year plan for 2026–2030, with the goal of improving service quality and advancing toward greater self-reliance.

At a meeting held in Vientiane on June 17, health officials reviewed progress made over the past five years and outlined priorities for the next phase of development under the theme: “Strengthening the Organizational System and Developing Health Civil Servants to Be Professional in Order to Provide Quality, Modern Health Services and Gradually Achieve Self-Reliance.”
Minister of Health Bounkham Khatthiya said the ministry will focus on building a stronger organizational system, improving personnel management, enhancing training and professional development, and ensuring qualified staff are available across the health sector.
The ministry also plans to continue strengthening disease surveillance and prevention, improve healthcare delivery, streamline administrative structures, and reinforce Party-building and human resource development to support long-term sector reforms.
Officials noted that despite challenges over the past five years, including public health threats and resource constraints, the health sector has made progress in developing medical personnel, strengthening management systems, and improving staff training and evaluation.
The 2026–2030 plan aims to build on these achievements by creating a more efficient, modern, and sustainable health system capable of meeting the country's growing healthcare needs.
