Prime Minister Sonexay Siphandone on June 1 joined a tree-planting activity at the Bueng That Luang Special Economic Zone in Vientiane Capital to mark the 46th anniversary of National Tree Planting Day and the 101st anniversary of International Children’s Day.
Held under the theme “Lao-China Bond: Planting Trees to Connect Relations,” the event brought together government officials, business representatives, and members of the public to promote environmental protection, forest restoration, and the expansion of green spaces in the capital.Speaking at the ceremony, Deputy Minister Phonvan Outhavong highlighted the importance of National Tree Planting Day in raising awareness among children, youth, and the public about the value of forests and environmental conservation. She emphasized that protecting and restoring green spaces requires the collective efforts of all sectors of society.The event also celebrated the Laos–China Friendship Year and the 65th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Laos and China, while supporting upcoming National Environment Day and World Environment Day observances.Participants planted ten mature Sam Sa trees as part of efforts to enhance the landscape of the Bueng That Luang Special Economic Zone and promote sustainable urban development in Vientiane Capital.
