(KPL) The 12th National Congress of the Lao Front for National Development will be held on April 28–29, 2026, marking a key milestone in strengthening national unity and guiding future development.

Speaking at a press conference on April 22, Laopao Song Navongxay, Vice President of the LFND Central Committee, said the congress will review the implementation of resolutions from the previous term, highlighting achievements while identifying areas for improvement.

He emphasized that the gathering goes beyond a routine review, focusing instead on shaping a “new vision” to reinforce solidarity among all sectors of Lao society, including ethnic groups, religious communities, and Lao citizens living abroad.

Preparations Underway

Subcommittees are finalizing key preparations:

Documentation: Draft political reports, a summary of the socio-economic development plan, and revised LFND regulations for the new term.

Personnel: Selection of delegates and guests, along with candidates for the new Central Committee. Nominees are expected to meet strict criteria, including strong qualifications, integrity, and a proven commitment to unity.

Leadership: The congress will formally endorse a new President and Vice Presidents to lead the LFND in the coming term.

Celebratory Activities

A series of activities is being organized nationwide under the theme “Patriotism and Development,” including sports events, cultural performances, and exhibitions. Organizers say arrangements for the congress emphasize efficiency, cost-effectiveness, and full security.

In his remarks, Mr. Laopao called on Party members, officials, and citizens to actively contribute to the success of the congress.

“We urge all sectors to uphold the spirit of solidarity and achieve meaningful results in honor of this important event,” he said, also encouraging Lao communities abroad to continue supporting national development efforts
