Candidates for the 10th National Assembly (NA) and the 5th Vientiane Provincial People’s Council (PPC) launched their election campaigns between 10 and 11 February 2026.

Led by Mr Bounsone Phetlavanh, President of the Vientiane PPC, the delegation visited key administrative and security hubs to engage with the electorate.

The campaign sessions were held at the Provincial Military Command, the Provincial Public Security Command, and the Viengkham District Administration Office, reaching officials and community leaders from 17 local villages.

Core Objectives

The campaign aims to ensure that the electoral process remains transparent and aligned with constitutional laws. Key priorities include educating the public on the election's significance and encouraging citizens to exercise their right to vote; providing a platform for voters to assess the biographies and visions of candidates to ensure representatives are chosen based on merit and capability; allowing candidates to gain a first-hand understanding of the socio-economic conditions and needs of people within their constituencies.

Voter and Polling Data

Vientiane Province has a total population of 514,471, with 277,228 eligible voters. To facilitate the democratic process, 511 polling stations will be established across the province.

In Viengkham District specifically, 25 polling stations will serve 14,435 eligible voters. Dedicated stations have also been organised for security personnel, including one station at the Provincial Military Command and two at the Provincial Public Security Command.

Candidates have urged all eligible citizens to view the upcoming election as a vital national event and to participate in selecting qualified leaders to guide the country’s future development.
