Mr. Thongloun Sisoulith, Secretary-General of the Party Central Committee of the Lao People’s Revolutionary Party and President of the Lao People’s Democratic Republic, arrived in Phnom Penh, Kingdom of Cambodia, on the morning of February 6, 2026, to begin a state visit to Cambodia from February 6–7, 2026.
President Thongloun, accompanied by a high-level delegation of the Lao PDR, was warmly received at Techo International Airport, where a welcoming ceremony was held in a dignified and friendly atmosphere.
The Lao delegation was welcomed by His Majesty’s Senior Advisor Mr. Sok Soken, Minister of Inspection of the Kingdom of Cambodia (Senior Minister), Mr. Bouakham Phomvongsay, Ambassador of the Lao PDR to the Kingdom of Cambodia, and relevant officials from both sides.
The state visit is being carried out at the invitation of His Majesty King Norodom Sihamoni of the Kingdom of Cambodia. The visit aims to further strengthen the traditional friendship between the two countries and to deepen and expand the comprehensive and long-term strategic partnership between the Lao PDR and Cambodia in an effective and practical manner.
During the visit, President Thongloun is also scheduled to attend the 4th meeting of the top leaders of the three Parties of Laos, Vietnam, and Cambodia, as well as the 16th summit meeting between the two Parties of Laos and Cambodia.
