The Extraordinary Session of the National Assembly Standing Committee has approved a series of significant leadership appointments and transfers, marking a major step in strengthening the country’s political and administrative structure.

(KPL) The Extraordinary Session of the National Assembly Standing Committee has approved a series of significant leadership appointments and transfers, marking a major step in strengthening the country’s political and administrative structure.
On January 19, Mrs. Amphayvone Lombounpheng, Member of the Party Central Committee and Secretary General of the National Assembly, officially announced the outcomes of the session, which was convened on January 17 to consider proposals submitted by the President and the Prime Minister.
The session focused on the reshuffling, appointment, and retirement of senior government officials in response to the nation’s evolving political and governance needs. Following in-depth deliberations, the Standing Committee unanimously endorsed all proposals.
Key Leadership Changes
Based on the proposal of the President:
Mr. Xaysana Khotphouthone, Member of the Party Central Committee and former Head of the Office of the Supreme People’s Prosecutor, was reassigned to a new position in Khammouane Province.
Brigadier General Livong Laoly, Member of the Party Central Committee and former Deputy Minister of Public Security, was appointed Head of the Office of the Supreme People’s Prosecutor.

Based on the proposal of the Prime Minister:
General Vilay Lakhamfong, Member of the Politburo, Secretary of the Party Central Committee, and Deputy Prime Minister, was transferred from his role as Minister of Public Security to a senior position at the Office of the Party Central Committee.
Mr. Khamphan Phommathat, Member of the Politburo, was reassigned from his position as President of the State Inspection Authority and Head of the Corruption Prevention and Control Authority to a new assignment.
Dr. Kikeo Khaykhamphithoune, Member of the Politburo and Deputy Prime Minister, was reassigned to the Lao Front for National Development.
Mr. Vanxay Phongsavanh, Member of the Politburo, Secretary of the Party Central Committee, and former Governor of Khammouane Province, was appointed President of the State Inspection Authority and Head of the Corruption Prevention and Control Authority.
Lieutenant General Vanthong Kongmany, Secretary of the Party Central Committee and former Party Secretary of Attapeu Province, was appointed Minister of Public Security.
Orderly Transition
In addition, the Standing Committee approved the retirement and pension request of Mr. Khamjane Vongphosy, Member of the Party Central Committee and Minister to the Prime Minister’s Office, underscoring a smooth and orderly leadership transition.
