On January 19, 2026, the National Election Committee, led by Mr. Santiphab Phomvihane, Member of the Party Central Committee, Minister of Finance, and Member of the National Election Committee, together with his delegation, visited Champasak Province to monitor and encourage preparations for the election of members of the 10th National Assembly (NA) and the 5th Provincial People’s Councils (PPC).

(KPL) On January 19, 2026, the National Election Committee, led by Mr. Santiphab Phomvihane, Member of the Party Central Committee, Minister of Finance, and Member of the National Election Committee, together with his delegation, visited Champasak Province to monitor and encourage preparations for the election of members of the 10th National Assembly (NA) and the 5th Provincial People’s Councils (PPC).
During the visit, the delegation met with Mr. Alounxay Sounnalath, Member of the Party Central Committee, Provincial Party Secretary, and Chairman of the Champasak Provincial Election Committee. The meeting reviewed the overall progress of election preparations in the province.
The Chairman of the Provincial Election Committee reported that Champasak Province is strictly implementing national laws and regulations related to the elections. The operational plan has been organized into three phases and four steps. To date, the province has successfully completed the initial stages and is currently carrying out Step 3 of Phase 2.
Participants at the meeting held discussions focusing on ensuring that the elections achieve four key targets at a 100-percent level: full voter participation, correct understanding and exercise of voting rights in accordance with regulations, complete peace and security through national defense and public security measures, and full transparency and completion of the electoral process within the designated timeframe.
In his concluding remarks, Mr. Santiphab Phomvihane commended the strong sense of responsibility demonstrated by the provincial and district election committees in Champasak. He expressed confidence that the elections for the 10th National Assembly and the 5th Provincial People’s Councils would successfully meet all four targets.
He also instructed the provincial election committee to urgently organize campaign training for candidates, complete the inventory of election equipment and budget allocations, and promptly report any difficulties or challenges to the National Election Committee for timely resolution.
