(KPL) Vientiane Province officials have welcomed a visiting delegation from the Vietnam Peace Committee during a working visit on 10 December.
Phouvong Bounxou, Deputy Secretary of the Vientiane Provincial Party Committee, received the delegation led by Uong Chu Luu, former Vietnamese National Assembly Vice Chairman and President of the Vietnam Peace Committee.
During the meeting, Mr. Phouvong briefed the delegation on the province’s socio-economic progress, highlighting outcomes of the 7th Congress of the Vientiane Provincial Party Organization and noting the province’s strategic advantages in trade, transport, agriculture, and tourism. He reported that the provincial economy has grown by 6%, with GDP reaching 17.441 trillion kip—over 31% above target. He also praised ongoing cooperation with Vietnam’s Hai Duong, Hai Phong, Yen Bai, and Nghe An provinces.
Mr. Uong Chu Luu commended the province’s achievements and underscored the strong ties between Laos and Vietnam. He encouraged Vientiane Province to expand investment promotion efforts and said Vietnam stands ready to help attract Vietnamese and regional investors. He also called for continued cooperation with sister provinces to deepen bilateral relations.
The delegation later visited tourist attractions including the Nam Ngum 1 Reservoir in Keo-Oudom district and sites in Vang Vieng district
