(KPL) A delegation from the Vietnamese Peace Committee, led by Uong Chu Luu, former Vice Chairman of Vietnam’s National Assembly, visited the Lao PDR from 8–11 December at the invitation of the Lao Committee for Peace and Solidarity.
On 9 December, the delegation paid a courtesy call on Lao Vice President Bounthong Chitmany, who welcomed the visit as a contribution to strengthening the close ties between the two countries. Both sides praised the longstanding friendship and expanding cooperation between Laos and Vietnam, as well as the productive collaboration between their respective peace committees.
Earlier, the Lao and Vietnamese peace committees held bilateral talks chaired by Lao National Assembly Vice President Sommad Pholsena and Mr. Luu. The meeting reviewed recent developments in each country, exchanged experiences on peace-related work, and discussed regional and global issues of shared concern.
During the visit, the Vietnamese delegation also met local leaders in Vientiane Province and toured cultural, historical, and economic sites in Vientiane Capital and surrounding areas.
