Lao PDR has commemorated the 70th anniversary of its membership in the United Nations, marking a significant milestone in the country’s engagement with the international community.
(KPL) Lao PDR has commemorated the 70th anniversary of its membership in the United Nations, marking a significant milestone in the country’s engagement with the international community.
The ceremony, held on 20 November 2025, was attended by Prime Minister Sonexay Siphandone, alongside diplomats, UN officials, government representatives and members of the international community.
Laos has been a member of the UN since 14 December 1955 and has since participated in efforts to promote peace, sustainable development and international cooperation. The anniversary event highlighted the country’s contributions over seven decades and reaffirmed its commitment to multilateralism.
Among the civil society representatives present was Mr Amphone Souvannalath, Director of the ARMI Association, who joined other invited CSO delegates in marking the occasion.
