In his opening address, President Saysomphone Phomvihane highlighted the session’s crucial role in shaping Laos’s next stage of development. Lawmakers will deliberate and adopt several key national matters, including the review of the 9th Five-Year National Socio-Economic Development Plan (2021–2025) and the introduction of the 10th Five-Year Plan (2026–2030), alongside the annual State Budget and Monetary Plans for 2025 and 2026.

The session will also review preparations for the upcoming elections of the 10th Legislature and the 5th Provincial People’s Assemblies.

Throughout the meeting, members of the National Assembly will have the opportunity to question cabinet ministers and representatives from relevant sectors on pressing issues, ensuring transparency, accountability, and effective policy implementation.

In concluding his remarks, President Saysomphone Phomvihane called for unity and dedication among all participants to ensure the success of the session. He emphasized the need for well-researched, data-driven discussions and decisions that align with the Party’s policies, the Constitution, and national laws all aimed at delivering tangible benefits to the Lao people of all ethnic groups.

This session serves as a vital platform for evaluating progress made under the current five-year development plan and laying a solid foundation for the next phase of Laos’s socio-economic advancement.
