On September 7, Chaleun Yiapaoheu, Vice President of the National Assembly and President of the Laos-Cuba Friendship Association, led a delegation to pay a courtesy visit to Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez, First Secretary of the Communist Party of Cuba and President of the Republic of Cuba. The meeting took place during Díaz-Canel’s official visit to the Lao PDR from September 6 to 7, aimed at further enhancing the long-standing friendship and cooperation between the two countries.

(KPL) On September 7, Chaleun Yiapaoheu, Vice President of the National Assembly and President of the Laos-Cuba Friendship Association, led a delegation to pay a courtesy visit to Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez, First Secretary of the Communist Party of Cuba and President of the Republic of Cuba. The meeting took place during Díaz-Canel’s official visit to the Lao PDR from September 6 to 7, aimed at further enhancing the long-standing friendship and cooperation between the two countries.
During the talks, Chaleun welcomed the Cuban President and his delegation, describing the visit as a significant contribution to strengthening and deepening the “precious friendship ties” between the two parties, states, and peoples. He praised the leadership of the Communist Party of Cuba in guiding the Cuban people to safeguard the achievements of the revolution while advancing the country’s development.
The Lao side expressed pride in the growing relations between the two nations, which have been consistently reinforced through high-level exchanges despite geographical distance. Chaleun also conveyed gratitude to the Party, State, and people of Cuba for their invaluable assistance to Laos during its struggle for national liberation and in the current era of national defense and development. He further briefed Díaz-Canel on the cooperation between the Laos-Cuba and Cuba-Laos Friendship Associations, highlighting their recent activities.
Díaz-Canel expressed appreciation for the warm welcome and valued the comprehensive cooperation between the two countries. He emphasized the important role of the Friendship Associations, noting their achievements in fostering bilateral ties through coordinated mechanisms, regular exchanges, mutual visits, and collaboration in regional and international forums.
Both sides reaffirmed their commitment to continue strengthening the traditional friendship, solidarity, and cooperation between Laos and Cuba, ensuring that these historic relations remain strong and enduring.
