(KPL)The Convention on the Establishment of the International Organization for Mediation was officially launched in Hong Kong, China on May 30, marking a significant milestone in global efforts to promote the peaceful resolution of international disputes.
The signing ceremony was attended by Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi, Deputy Prime Minister of the Lao PDR Saleumxay Kommasith, senior officials from various countries and regions, as well as members of the international media.

Headquartered in Hong Kong, the newly established organization aims to serve as a platform for dialogue, mediation, and the peaceful settlement of disputes between states. Its mission is to advance global peace, foster international solidarity, and provide an inclusive and impartial forum for resolving conflicts through diplomatic and cooperative means.
In his remarks, Foreign Minister Wang Yi underscored the importance of multilateralism and shared responsibility in addressing global challenges. “We are here today with a common purpose—to collaborate and resolve issues through mutual cooperation and win-win outcomes,” he said.

The International Organization for Mediation is expected to serve as a complementary mechanism to existing international frameworks, enhancing efforts to prevent and peacefully resolve conflicts around the world.
