The Lao National Assembly, in cooperation with the Parliamentary Assembly of the Francophonie (APF), convened a meeting from March 12–14, 2025, in Vientiane. The event, co-chaired by the Lao National Assembly and the APF, brought together 11 parliamentary and regional delegations, the APF Secretariat, and the Parliamentary Centre of Asia (PCASIA) to discuss the integration of artificial intelligence (AI) in parliamentary operations.

In her address, Ms. Sounthone Xayachack, Vice President of the Lao National Assembly, emphasized the pressing global challenges that impact socio-economic development. She underscored the significant role of APF members in representing the rights, interests, and aspirations of the people while fostering democracy, the rule of law, and international cooperation.

The discussions focused on three key areas: the application of digital tools in parliamentary work, policy assessment, and strategies to combat misinformation. Participants shared insights and best practices on leveraging AI to enhance legislative efficiency and decision-making.
This annual APF meeting serves as a vital platform for parliamentarians to exchange ideas and strengthen regional and global cooperation in governance and legislative processes.
