(KPL) Vientiane hosted a dazzling celebration at Patuxay Park to bid farewell to 2024 and ring in the new year.
The grand event, themed around cultural preservation and festivity, attracted a large crowd, including dignitaries such as Atsaphangthong Siphandone, Mayor of Vientiane; the Minister of Information, Culture, and Tourism; other government officials; as well as foreign visitors and local residents.
The festivities highlighted the preservation of Lao culture while incorporating modern entertainment. Traditional music and dance performances took center stage, accompanied by artistic displays and songs blending Lao and international styles.
Lamvong Lao, the country's latest addition to UNESCO’s World Heritage list, was a highlight of the evening, showcasing Laos' rich traditions.
The event offered a variety of attractions, including lucky draws, food and beverage stalls as well as local crafts.
The celebration reached its peak with a collective countdown to midnight, accompanied by a mesmerizing drone light show and a stunning fireworks display.
The spectacle illuminated the skies above Patuxay Park, leaving attendees in awe. A special video message from Party Secretary-General and State President Thongloun Sisoulith added to the sense of occasion, delivering heartfelt New Year’s greetings.
The event offered a lively ambiance, with a blend of Lao and international music captivating audiences. Designed to attract both locals and tourists, it provided an unparalleled opportunity to experience the beauty of Patuxay Park, both during the day and into the night.
