(KPL) Betagro Public Company Limited, or "BTG," inaugurated last week its first animal feed factory in the Lao PDR.

The factory, established with an investment of over 650 million baht, uses advanced technology in animal feed production and resource management, with an annual production capacity of 108,000 tons.

This facility aims to produce high-quality products to meet the growing demand, improve cost efficiency, reduce imports of animal feed from abroad, and contribute to the sustainable growth of the Lao economy.

At the factory's opening ceremony, attendees included officials from the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry, the Ministry of Labour and Social Welfare, the President of Betagro Group, Thai Ambassador to Laos, and various related parties.

On this occasion, Mr. Worawut Vanigunbodee, Chief Operating Officer of Betagro's International Business, stated that Betagro is a leading global food and agro-industrial company providing integrated services, with exports to over 20 countries worldwide.

The group also invests in neighbouring countries, including Myanmar, Laos, and Cambodia, focusing on enhancing production efficiency and quality through advanced technology.

In Laos, Betagro has invested 650 million baht in its first state-of-the-art animal feed production facility, incorporating the latest technology and innovations to ensure high-quality feed products. The Betagro Laos Animal Feed Factory is another of the company's international production plants, capable of producing various types of animal feed for pigs, laying hens, and broiler chickens, using modern production technology that enhances management systems.

It includes a plant management system for controlling and reporting production results, an animal feed production and pre-mixing system, a modern animal feed packaging system, and a database management system for analyzing raw materials and animal feed quality control.

Additionally, there is a dust and odor removal system to minimize social and environmental impacts.

Beta Agro Laos’ animal feed factory is expected to enhance efficient production of safe and high-quality animal feed, promoting the use of local raw materials. This aligns with national economic development goals and contributes to Laos' competitiveness.

It will also strengthen Laos' food supply chain by delivering safe, high-quality, and sustainable products, creating jobs for locals, and offering citizens a healthy, high-quality food supply. This initiative is part of Laos' efforts to develop its agro-industrial and food sectors to international standards, ensuring safety for consumers and establishing a foundation for future production and export.

Currently, Beta Agro Laos’ factory operates at 70% of its total production capacity, with full capacity (100% or 108,000 tons) projected by 2025. Expansion plans aim to increase capacity to 144,000 tons annually by 2027, to meet the growing demands for food in Laos and central parts of north-eastern Thailand.
