(KPL) All 10 ASEAN member countries have shared similar customs, traditions, and ways of life. Consequently, events such as festivals, attire, cuisine, and significant celebrations often exhibit similarities.

According to a report from the ASEAN Main Portal titled " ASEAN Member States National Holidays 2024," Laos has the fewest public holidays, with only 9 days, while Indonesia has the highest number, with 27 days. The ranking is as follows: 1.Indonesia 27 daays, 2. Cambodia 22 days, 3. Myanmar 19 day, 4. Philippines 18 days, 5 Thailand 18 days, 6. Brunei 16 days, 7. Malaysia 16 days, 8. Vietnam 15 days, 9. Singapore 11 days, 10. Laos 9 days.

In particular, the data for Indonesia reflects the diversity of its culture and religion, celebrating numerous festivals and important days. Conversely, the fewer public holidays in Laos indicate a scheduling and allocation of holidays that align with the country’s unique social, economic, and cultural contexts within ASEAN.

Despite the differences, countries with more holidays often show robust economic growth and spending, especially in the tourism sector. Specifically, Laos, Thailand, Vietnam, and Cambodia observe longer New Year holidays, which are crucial for their tourism economies.
