Large Buddha Image unearthed on Pheungkham Island

ຂປລ (KPL) An excavation team found on Thursday an Ongpathan Buddha Image sized 2.20 m high, the largest size ever found since the first discovery of Buddha images in mid-March, on the Pheungkham Island, Tonpheung district, Bokeo Province.

(KPL) An excavation team found on Thursday an Ongpathan Buddha Image sized 2.20 m high, the largest size ever found since the first discovery of Buddha images in mid-March, on the Pheungkham Island, Tonpheung district, Bokeo Province.

The excavation area is so-called the site of the ancient city of Souvannakhomkham dating back to more than 1967 years ago.

The Asian Development Bank (ADB) has appointed Shanny Campbell as its Country Director for the Lao People’s Democratic Republic (Lao PDR). She assumed office this week. Ms. Campbell will lead ADB’s operations in the Lao PDR in support of its national development goals, including its ambition to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 60% by 2030.
