Champasak Provincial Party Secretary Alounxay Sounnalath received Lao Ambassador to Cambodia Sonexay Vannaxay on October 23 to discuss bilateral cooperation and opportunities to strengthen ties between Champasak and Cambodian provinces.
(KPL) During the meeting at the Champasak Provincial Administration Office, Ambassador Sonexay said his visit was linked to technical meetings on tourism and related activities marking the 70th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Laos and Cambodia.
He said the visit also provided an opportunity to review cooperation between Champasak and neighbouring Cambodian provinces and identify ways to advance future joint initiatives.
Alounxay outlined Champasak’s development potential, highlighting commercial agriculture, fish farming, food processing, tourism and regional transport and logistics.
He also asked the ambassador to support plans to establish sister-province relationships with Cambodian provinces bordering Champasak, as well as Siem Reap, to promote institutional exchanges and joint projects, including proposed “Friendship Coffee Shops”.
Both sides stressed the importance of maintaining close communication and strengthening cooperation between Champasak authorities and the Lao Embassy in Cambodia.
