Prime Minister Saleumxay Kommasith received Vietnamese Ambassador to Laos Nguyen Minh Tam in Vientiane on October 5, 2026, following his appointment as Prime Minister of the Lao PDR.
(KPL) During the meeting, Ambassador Nguyen Minh Tam conveyed congratulations from the Vietnamese Government and presented a bouquet of flowers to Prime Minister Saleumxay.
The Ambassador congratulated Mr Saleumxay on receiving the confidence of the Party Central Committee, National Assembly and Lao people to serve as Prime Minister. He expressed confidence that the new Prime Minister would lead the government in advancing national development and strengthening Laos' role in regional and international cooperation.
He also reaffirmed Vietnam's commitment to further strengthening the great friendship, special solidarity, comprehensive cooperation and strategic partnership between Vietnam and Laos for the benefit of both peoples.
Prime Minister Saleumxay expressed appreciation to the Party, State and people of Vietnam for their continued support and assistance to Laos.
He reaffirmed his commitment to working closely with relevant sectors to further strengthen the longstanding Laos-Vietnam relationship and ensure that bilateral cooperation delivers practical benefits to the two peoples while contributing to peace, stability and cooperation in the region and beyond.
