(KPL) Major General Somphone Mittaphone, Party Secretary and President of the Phongsaly Provincial People’s Council, inspected the operations of Phongsaly Fuhai Coal Mining Sole Co., Ltd. at its mining site in Phongsaly District on August 28, 2026.
The company operates coal extraction and processing facilities in Lak 38 Village, Boun Neua District, and Salaebe Village, Phongsaly District, covering 57.2 square kilometres with 25 underground mine shafts.
Under a 20-year concession agreement, the company plans to extract 13.4 million tons of coal with a calorific value of 3,500–4,000 kcal/kg. Its products are supplied to four cement manufacturers in Oudomxay, Luang Prabang and Vientiane Capital, as well as exported to China.
The company has exported 17,865.16 tons of coal so far this year and fulfilled its tax obligations. It has also supported local communities by building roads to agricultural areas and extending electricity networks.
Major General Somphone urged the company to maintain efficient operations, meet state obligations, protect the environment and contribute to local socio-economic development.
