(KPL) The Lancang-Mekong Media Dialogue, held in Xining and Yushu, Qinghai Province, China, brought together media representatives, government officials and experts from the six Lancang-Mekong countries to exchange views on strengthening media cooperation and promoting mutual understanding.
Speaking at the dialogue, Ms. Sivanxay Siphankham, Deputy Director General of the Lao News Agency (KPL), highlighted the important role of Lao media in Lancang-Mekong cooperation and called for closer professional exchanges among media organisations.
She recalled that Laos hosted a Lancang-Mekong media event in Vientiane in 2018, which provided opportunities for journalists to exchange experiences and strengthen professional networks.
Ms. Sivanxay proposed greater cooperation in joint reporting and content production on shared issues, including sustainable agriculture, cultural heritage, cross-border tourism, public health, education and youth development.
She also encouraged media organisations to expand co-production and content sharing through digital platforms, including short videos, photojournalism, interviews and multilingual features.
The dialogue, held alongside the Lancang-Mekong International Video and Photography Week, provided a platform for media professionals to strengthen networks and explore new ways to promote understanding and people-to-people ties across the region
