A high-level delegation of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, led by Comrade Tran Cam Tu, Politburo Member and Permanent Member of the Secretariat of the Communist Party of Vietnam Central Committee, paid tribute to the late Comrade Xaysomphone Phomvihane at the National Convention Hall in Vientiane on August 12, 2026.
Comrade Tran Cam Tu and members of the delegation laid a floral wreath and signed the condolence book in honour of Comrade Xaysomphone Phomvihane, Member of the Politburo of the Lao People's Revolutionary Party Central Committee and President of the National Assembly of the Lao PDR, who passed away on August 8, 2026.
The ceremony conveyed the profound condolences, respect and affection of the Party, State and people of Vietnam following the passing of the senior Lao leader.
The participation of the Vietnamese delegation reflected the deep-rooted great friendship and special solidarity between Laos and Vietnam, as well as the close and enduring bonds between the two Parties, two States and the peoples of the two countries.
Throughout his political career, Comrade Xaysomphone Phomvihane made significant contributions to strengthening the great friendship, special solidarity, comprehensive cooperation and strategic partnership between Laos and Vietnam.
The Vietnamese delegation's presence at the mourning and funeral ceremonies reaffirmed Vietnam's solidarity with the Lao Party, State and people and its commitment to continuing to preserve, nurture and further advance the longstanding bilateral relationship for the benefit of both nations and peoples.
