Laos, Vietnam Deepen Cooperation Between Supreme People's Procuracies

ຂປລ Laos and Vietnam have reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening cooperation between their supreme prosecutorial authorities, with a focus on judicial collaboration, personnel development, and combating cross-border crime.



The commitment was highlighted during an official visit to Laos by a high-level delegation from the Supreme People's Procuracy of Vietnam, led by Nguyen Huy Tien, Member of the Communist Party of Vietnam Central Committee and Prosecutor General, from July 15–17. The visit was made at the invitation of Livong Laoly, Member of the Lao People's Revolutionary Party Central Committee and Prosecutor General of the Lao PDR.
During bilateral talks on July 15, both sides reviewed their countries' socio-economic development and assessed the implementation of the 2022 cooperation agreement between the two prosecutorial institutions.T

he two sides noted that regular exchanges of high-level and technical delegations at both central and local levels have strengthened mutual trust and enhanced practical cooperation. They also highlighted continued consultations on the sidelines of regional and international meetings, which have further deepened bilateral ties.

In the legal field, Laos and Vietnam have expanded cooperation in judicial assistance, extradition, and the exchange of professional experience. The Vietnamese side has continued to support the training and capacity building of Lao prosecutors, helping strengthen professional expertise and institutional capacity.
Both sides also emphasized the importance of cooperation between procuracy offices in border provinces, which have maintained close coordination through information sharing and joint efforts to address cross-border legal issues. They said this collaboration has improved the handling of transnational criminal cases, enhanced judicial cooperation, and strengthened efforts to combat cross-border crime.
