Heavy rainfall triggered by the influence of Tropical Storm Maysak caused flooding in several villages of Se Bang Fai District, Khammouane Province, after water levels in tributaries of the Se Bang Fai River rose rapidly on the night of July 6.

According to provincial authorities, flooding affected three villages in Khamphae Tai Subdistrict. In Kok Tong Village, floodwaters inundated 84 houses, affecting 89 families, along with 17 hectares of rice fields and 15 hectares of agricultural land. Som Village reported flooding in 13 houses, affecting 13 families, while Tham Lai Village recorded damage to 99 houses, affecting 99 families, and 15 hectares of paddy fields.
In Tham Lai Village, floodwaters also damaged three temples, one secondary school, one health centre, and the Khamphae Tai Subdistrict administration office. Authorities are continuing to assess the total extent of the damage.
On July 7, Ungsit Nimitbansa, Vice President of the District Administration and Chairman of the Se Bang Fai District Disaster Management Committee, led a team of officials to inspect the affected areas. He instructed local authorities to closely monitor the situation, assist residents in moving valuables and livestock to higher ground, and prepare boats and vehicles for emergency response.
Flooding also affected Saenkham Somboun Subdistrict, where approximately 800 metres of the road linking Kok Tong and Nam Phu villages was submerged, disrupting transportation. Water entered homes, the village health centre, the school, and the Khamphae Tai Subdistrict office.
Several sections of roads connecting Route 13 South with Dong Mak Ba, Yang Nai, Sangha, and Nong Phang villages were also inundated, while farmland in the area sustained flood damage.
Authorities have urged residents to closely monitor weather forecasts issued by the Department of Meteorology and Hydrology and to relocate essential belongings, elderly people, children, pregnant women, and livestock to safe areas if water levels continue to rise.
As of the latest report, the Se Bang Fai River was measured at 16.70 metres.
