Weather Advisory: Heavy Rain and Strong Winds Expected Across Laos from July 6–12

ຂປລ The Department of Meteorology and Hydrology has issued a weather advisory warning of widespread rainfall, thunderstorms, and strong winds across much of the Lao PDR from July 6 to 12, 2026.

According to the advisory, a low-pressure trough extending across the northern and central regions, combined with strengthening southwest monsoon winds affecting most parts of the country, is expected to bring widespread light to moderate rainfall. Some areas may experience heavy rain accompanied by thunderstorms, lightning, and strong gusty winds.
Authorities have urged the public, local administrations, and all relevant sectors to remain vigilant for potential hazards, including flash flooding in low-lying urban areas, falling trees and billboards, and damage to houses and other structures caused by strong winds.
The Department of Meteorology and Hydrology also advised residents to closely monitor official weather forecasts and follow updates and warnings as weather conditions may change throughout the week.
