An international media delegation visited the Beijing Municipal Party Committee School and the Beijing Administration Institute (BAI) on June 30 to learn about the institution's role in public administration, policy research and urban governance.
Established in 1950, the Party School, together with the Beijing Administration Institute, founded in 1993, serves as a leading training centre for civil servants and public officials in Beijing. The two institutions share academic resources and provide education, policy research and advisory services to support government decision-making.
During the visit, journalists toured the "Beijing Practice" Themed Classroom, an interactive exhibition showcasing the capital's urban development strategies, governance reforms and sustainable development initiatives. Through digital displays and case studies, the exhibition highlights Beijing's efforts in regional coordination, scientific and technological innovation, environmental protection and public service improvement.
Institute officials said research findings produced by the BAI contribute to policymaking at both the municipal and national levels, while international cooperation with universities and research institutions has strengthened exchanges on public administration and governance.
The delegation also received briefings on Beijing's recent development achievements, including improvements in air quality, economic transformation and public services. Officials noted that the city's annual average PM2.5 concentration has declined significantly over the past decade, while Beijing's economy has continued to expand with increasing emphasis on innovation and high-value industries.
The visit formed part of an international media programme aimed at enhancing understanding of China's governance practices and urban development. It also provided participants with an opportunity to exchange views on sustainable city management, public administration and future cooperation in policy research and capacity building.
