(KPL) Deputy Prime Minister Khamlieng Outhakaysone visited the Ministry of Technology and Communications on April 21, 2026, to provide strategic guidance on digital transformation and cybersecurity.
He was welcomed by Santisouk Simmalavong, Minister of Technology and Communications, along with deputy ministers and senior officials.
During the meeting, Minister Santisouk presented a report on the ministry’s performance from 2021 to 2025 and outlined priorities for 2026 to 2030. He said the ministry comprises one minister, three deputy ministers, and 17 departments, supported by 18 provincial and capital departments and 56 district offices nationwide.
He said the sector employs 1,343 personnel, including 537 women. Of those, 585 are based at the central level and 758 are stationed in local offices.
Officials reported continued progress in digital governance. The government’s E-office system has been expanded to 44 offices with more than 13,200 user accounts. The G-Chat platform has more than 24,200 active users, while G-Share and G-Drive support over 15,200 users for document sharing. Video conferencing systems have been deployed across 42 sectors, serving more than 20,800 users.
The ministry also highlighted progress in cybersecurity, particularly the performance of the Online Fraud Prevention Center (AOC 1533). Since its launch on December 29, 2025, the center has received more than 700 reports of online fraud and has resolved over 300 cases.
Authorities said efforts are ongoing to strengthen frequency management, including the seizure and dismantling of illegally imported and operated Low Earth Orbit satellite communication equipment in several regions.
Looking ahead, the ministry aims to accelerate development through expanded use of artificial intelligence and secure digital technologies across all sectors. Plans also include advancing Industry 4.0, strengthening the digital government framework, and implementing eight strategies and 14 action plans under the national digital economy development plan.
In his remarks, Deputy Prime Minister Khamlieng Outhakaysone emphasized the importance of digital innovation and cybersecurity in supporting national development.
Following the meeting, the delegation toured key operational facilities, including the 1533 Hotline Center, a coordination unit for national defense and public security, the Network Operations Center, and the Security Operations Center.
