(KPL) Prime Minister Sonexay Siphandone attended and presided over the official opening ceremony of the expanded Provincial People’s Council office and meeting hall on April 21, 2026.
He was joined by senior officials, including Alounxai Sounnalath, Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, and Souksavanh Vilaivong, Chairman of the Provincial People’s Council, along with ministers, provincial leaders, and representatives from relevant sectors.
The expansion project is located in Pakse. Construction began on May 9, 2025, and was completed in 11 months by Vixakhom Construction Sole Co., Ltd..
The new facility is a two-story building designed in traditional Lao architectural style, with a total floor area of 1,890 square meters. The first floor, covering 945 square meters, consists of office spaces divided by glass partitions. The second floor, also 945 square meters, includes a large conference hall with a seating capacity of 300 people, as well as an audio control room and lounge areas.
The total investment for the project is estimated at nearly 20 billion kip.
During the ceremony, the Prime Minister and other senior officials participated in a ribbon-cutting to officially inaugurate the building. The event also featured the traditional striking of a gong nine times and the release of balloons to mark the occasion.
Officials say the new facility is expected to improve working conditions and enhance administrative efficiency, enabling the Provincial People’s Council to better serve the public
