(KPL) The 2nd Lao Traditional Medicine Product Exhibition opened on 12–13 December 2025 at the Kaysone Phomvihane Museum in Vientiane, as part of celebrations marking key national anniversaries.
The event, organised by the Lao Traditional Medicine Conservation Association, was attended by Minister Vilayvanh Boudakham, Deputy Head of the Central Party Organisation Committee; Mrs Viphaphone Phomvihane, Honorary Advisory President of the association; leaders of the association; traditional medicine entrepreneurs; and representatives from relevant sectors.
Association President Khamphet Manivanh said more than 30 traditional medicine producers were participating, showcasing over 100 products. He noted that the items reflect the knowledge and formulas passed down through generations of Lao traditional healers, using natural resources from forests, fields and local communities.
The exhibition is being held to commemorate the 105th birthday of President Kaysone Phomvihane (13 December 1920 – 13 December 2025), the 50th anniversary of the Lao PDR (2 December 1975 – 2 December 2025), and the 3rd anniversary of the Lao Traditional Medicine Conservation Association.
Mr Khamphet said the event provides a platform for entrepreneurs and association members to display and sell their products, helping the public learn about Lao traditional remedies and encouraging the use of high-quality Lao-made medicine comparable to modern treatments.
The exhibition also aims to promote the integration of traditional medicine with modern and alternative medical services, strengthen the use of local medicinal resources, preserve traditional knowledge, and support the conservation of medicinal plant genetics. It further seeks to raise production standards and build consumer confidence in the quality, efficacy and safety of Lao traditional medicine.
