(KPL) On November 17, 2025, The Supreme People’s Court of the Lao PDR has achieved a notable milestone in judicial efficiency, surpassing its five-year target for resolving legal cases across all levels. According to a report presented by Ms. Viengthong Siphandone, President of the Supreme People’s Court, during the 10th Ordinary Session of the National Assembly’s 9th Legislature, the court system successfully resolved 91.07% of all registered cases between 2021 and 2025. This result exceeds the original target of 85% set by the Resolution of the 4th Congress of the Supreme People’s Court Party Committee.

In total, 31,937 cases were concluded out of 35,068 filed across the People’s and Military Courts nationwide. First Instance Courts, including district, provincial, and regional military courts, recorded the highest resolution rate at 92.37%, while cases brought to the Supreme Court level were resolved at a rate of 89.16%. Overall, the five-year performance of the judiciary averaged a 91.07% resolution rate.
The trend of strong judicial performance carried forward into 2025, during which the courts resolved 85.74% of the total 8,868 pending and newly registered cases. Ms. Siphandone emphasized that this achievement reflects the dedication and professionalism of the judicial staff, contributing to greater public confidence in the rule of law. The continued improvement of case resolution rates underscores the government’s efforts to enforce timely justice and strengthen national stability through an effective legal system.
