Comrade Thongloun Sisoulith, Secretary General of the Lao People’s Revolutionary Party Central Committee and President of the Lao PDR, led the high-level delegation representing the Party Central Committee, the National Assembly, the Government, and the Lao Front for National Development to attend the tribute ceremony.
The Lao delegation paid solemn tribute to the memory of Comrade Tran Duc Luong, who formerly served as a Politburo member of the Communist Party of Viet Nam and President of the Socialist Republic of Viet Nam. He passed away on May 20, 2025.
On this occasion, President Thongloun Sisoulith wrote in the book of condolences, expressing deep sorrow on behalf of the Party, Government, and people of Laos, stating:
“On behalf of the Central Committee of the Lao People’s Revolutionary Party, the National Assembly, the Government, and the Lao Front for National Development of the Lao People’s Democratic Republic, I would like to express our profound condolences on the passing of Comrade Tran Duc Luong, former Politburo member of the Communist Party of Viet Nam and former President of the Socialist Republic of Viet Nam — an outstanding leader of the fraternal Party, State, and people of Vietnam, as well as a close friend and comrade of the Party, State, and people of Laos.
We highly praise and will always remember his significant contributions and noble deeds, especially his vital role in strengthening the great friendship, special solidarity, and comprehensive cooperation between the two Parties, States, and peoples of Laos and Vietnam over the years.
In this moment of great loss, we express our heartfelt sympathy and share our sorrow with the Communist Party of Vietnam Central Committee, the Vietnamese Fatherland Front, and the entire Vietnamese people.”
