(KPL) In early March, the Embassy of India in the Lao PDR, in collaboration with the Tourism Department of Uttar Pradesh, India, organized a special familiarisation visit for a Lao group to prominent Buddhist pilgrimage sites in India.

The group included notable Lao nationals such as Miss Universe Laos, Ms. Phiranya Miepooh; Mr. Tar Apect, Director of Seventy Eight Creation; representatives from the Lao Buddhist Sangha; tour operators; and members of the Lao National Television.

The group embarked on a spiritual journey, retracing the sacred footsteps of the Buddha across several significant sites.

These included Sarnath, where Buddha delivered his first sermon; Kapilavastu, his childhood home; Sravasti, where he spent 18 years teaching Dhamma; and Kushinagar, where Buddha attained Parinirvana.

Surrounded by ancient ruins, the group experienced the deep spiritual connection that links India, Laos, and the broader Buddhist world.

In addition to the pilgrimage sites, the group also visited the Taj Mahal, explored the vibrant city of Varanasi, and sampled traditional Indian cuisine.

The visit, organized by Uttar Pradesh's Tourism Department and supported by the Embassy of India, was a unique opportunity to immerse in Indian culture and traditions.

Many group members highlighted the rich diversity of Indian traditions, the warmth and hospitality of the people, and the unforgettable experience of authentic Indian food as the most memorable parts of the trip. The participants expressed their sincere gratitude to the Embassy of India for making the visit possible, leaving with fond memories and a deeper understanding of India's spiritual and cultural heritage.
