quality assurance of agricultural and animal products in Laos, the Ministry of
Agriculture and Forestry has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with
two private sector partners. The agreement focuses on exploring technical
cooperation in inspection, quarantine, diagnosis, and quality assurance.
The signing ceremony was graced by the Deputy
Minister of Agriculture and Forestry, Ms. Chanthakone Boulaphanh, along with
senior officials from both sides. The agreement was signed by representatives
from the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry, Animal Disease Inspection,
Quarantine, and Diagnosis Company Limited, and Phetdala Agriculture Trading and
Services Sole Company Limited.
This partnership aims to study the feasibility of
establishing a comprehensive system for inspecting and ensuring the quality of
plant and animal products. The initiative will address critical areas such as
residue monitoring in plants, agricultural products, animal products, and
aquatic animals.
By aligning with international standards, the
collaboration seeks to improve Laos' regulatory frameworks and enhance the
safety and marketability of its agricultural and animal products. The
initiative is expected to strengthen the country's economic growth and boost
its trade potential.
Speaking on the occasion, stakeholders expressed
optimism about the positive impact this partnership will have on the
agricultural and animal product sectors in Laos. The MoU marks the beginning of
a collaborative journey to elevate these sectors, setting the stage for
sustainable development and increased competitiveness in global markets.
