(KPL) The China Cultural Centre in Vientiane, in collaboration with the
Kunming Economic and Technical Cooperation Association, the Lao National
Institute of Fine Arts, and the Yunnan Fine Arts Institute, organized a Fine
Art Exhibition in Vientiane on December 27, 2024.
The event marks the upcoming Chinese Spring Festival of 2025 and celebrates
the scenic beauty and cultural significance of the Laos-China Railway.
The opening ceremony was attended by Mr. Khamphoukeo Keovongxay, Director of
the National Institute of Fine Arts under the Ministry of Information, Culture,
and Tourism; Ms. Li Yiping, Head of the China Cultural Centre in Laos; and
other officials from both nations.
The exhibition underscored the enduring friendship and collaboration between
Laos and China, particularly highlighting the railway’s role in fostering
connectivity and cultural exchange.
The exhibition features 45 vibrant works by seven Yunnan painters, capturing
various landscapes and cultural landmarks along the Laos-China Railway route.
Scenic locations such as Vientiane, Vang Vieng, and Luang Prabang are
depicted through colorful and dynamic art that showcases natural beauty,
cultural traditions, and the strong bond between the two countries.
Mr. Khamphoukeo emphasized the importance of the exhibition as a platform
for artistic exchange among Lao and Chinese artists, academics, and students.
“This collaboration is the first of its kind between the Lao National
Institute of Fine Arts and artists from Yunnan, China. It strengthens cultural
ties, fosters artistic dialogue, and supports China’s ‘Belt and Road’
Initiative,” he said. “The event also highlights the Laos-China Railway’s
contribution to enhancing cooperation and connectivity.”
The National Institute of Fine Arts plays a
pivotal role in education, research, and the preservation of cultural heritage.
Through events like this exhibition, it aims to promote fine arts and
traditions, develop academic programmes, and provide specialized services to
society, further enriching the vibrant cultural exchange between Laos and
China.
