The delegation, led by Turkish Ambassador to Laos, Mr. Orhan Isik, who also serves as the Dean of the Diplomatic Corps in Laos, extended heartfelt congratulations to the Lao leadership and people.

Speaking on behalf of the international diplomatic community, Ambassador Isik commended Laos on its 49 years of nation-building and praised its outstanding success in chairing ASEAN in 2024, including its hosting of major regional events. He also reaffirmed the commitment of the international community to further strengthen relations and cooperation with the Lao PDR.

In response, President Thongloun expressed his heartfelt gratitude to the diplomatic corps for their kind words, emphasizing the enduring friendship, solidarity, and collaboration between Laos and its international partners.

He noted that such support serves as a source of encouragement for the Lao government and people to continue advancing their nation’s development and protection.

Reflecting on the country's achievements, the President highlighted the pride of the Lao people in their progress over the past 49 years, acknowledging the sacrifices of earlier generations who fought for independence and laid the foundation for development.

He stressed the importance of unity and determination among the multi-ethnic Lao people, under the leadership of the Party and government, as they strive toward a prosperous, progressive, and sustainable future.

President Thongloun also noted the significance of 2025, marking the 50th anniversary of the Lao PDR’s establishment, the 70th anniversary of Laos' membership in the United Nations, and the final year of the Ninth Five-Year National Socio-Economic Development Plan. Additionally, it will be a pivotal year as Laos prepares to graduate from least-developed country status in 2026.

The President expressed confidence that with continued support from friendly countries and international organizations, coupled with the self-reliance and self-strengthening spirit of the Lao people, Laos will achieve its development goals.
