Vannasinh Named New Director General of Lao News Agency

ຂປລ Mr. Vannasinh Simmavong, former Deputy Director General of the Mass Media Department under the Ministry of Information, Culture, and Tourism, has been appointed the new Director General of the Lao News Agency (KPL).

(KPL) Mr. Vannasinh Simmavong, former Deputy Director General of the Mass Media Department under the Ministry of Information, Culture, and Tourism, has been appointed the new Director General of the Lao News Agency (KPL). 

He succeeds Mr. Khampheuy Philapha, who will now serve as Director General of the Department of Organization and Personnel at the ministry.

A handover ceremony for the new Director General took place at KPL headquarters in Vientiane on Oct 16, attended by Deputy Minister of Information, Culture, and Tourism Mr. Phosy Keomaniwong, along with Party members, senior leaders and staff members of KPL, and representatives of relevant authorities.

In his remarks, Mr. Khampheuy Philapha highlighted KPL’s achievements over the past four years, including its successful coverage of the 11th Party Congress and the elections for the 9th National Assembly. 

He praised the dedication of the KPL team for their tireless efforts in carrying out the agency’s responsibilities with honor and integrity. 

Mr. Philapha also highlighted the agency's role in disseminating information about significant national events, including Laos’ chairmanship of ASEAN in 2024, and emphasized the importance of KPL's role in promoting the country’s policies, national social and economic development, and enhancing the agency’s reputation both nationally and internationally.

Deputy Minister Phosy Keomaniwong expressed his appreciation for Mr. Philapha's contributions, commending his leadership and commitment to the advancement of KPL. 

He also welcomed the new Director General, Mr. Vannasinh Simmavong, encouraging him to continue driving the agency's mission forward and maintaining its vital role in popularizing the government policies and national priorities. 

Mr. Vannasinh Simmavong, in his remarks, pledged to uphold the high standards set by his predecessor and to guide the agency through future challenges and opportunities.
