(KPL) The National University of Laos (NUOL) has announced that it will admit 5,920 new students for the upcoming academic year 2024-2025.

The entrance exam will be held on Aug 10, 2024.

“The National University of Laos will hold entrance exam for the 2024-2025 academic year in the beginning of August 2024. Preparations for the exam are going on as planned, with the number of new students to be approved by the Ministry of Education and Sports (MoES).

The National University has opened online registration for students from Jul 8 to Aug 7, 2024, and will issue exam tickets from Jul 15 to Aug 7, 2024, at the main hall of the university (Dong Dok campus).

The list of exam takers will be posted on Aug 9, 2024, and the exams will take place on Aug 10, 2024, according to the Acting President of the National University of Laos, Mr. Desanulad Sendouangdeth.

“In the past, NUOL had more applicants than the number of students it could admit, but not all met expectations due to an uneven selection of majors. For grade 12 students, aside from those awarded government scholarships from various provinces, all applicants must pass the entrance exam, otherwise admission is not granted. This is to maintain quality,” Mr. Desanulad Sendouangdeth said.

The exams will be divided into two groups: Group A (natural sciences), with subjects including Mathematics, Physics, Lao Language, Literature, Chemistry, Biology, and English; and Group B (social sciences) for Mathematics, Lao Language, Literature, Geography, History, and English. Exam results are expected to be announced on Sep 9, 2024, and registration will start from Sep 10-27, 2024.

Mr. Desanulad also urged students who graduated grade 12 this year or in previous years but have not yet enrolled to take the entrance exam for their future, and called on parents to encourage their children to pursue education to prepare themselves for the labour market.
