ຂປລ (KPL) Vice President of the National Assembly Sounthone Sayachack reported the achievements made by the National Assembly over the past six months, or since its 6th Ordinary Session, and plans for the 8th Ordinary Session.

(KPL) Vice President of the National Assembly Sounthone Sayachack reported the achievements made by the National Assembly over the past six months, or since its 6th Ordinary Session, and plans for the 8th Ordinary Session.

She highlighted the successful revision and adjustment of laws which were adopted at the 6th Ordinary Session of the National Assembly, preparation for the revision of the Constitution of the Lao PDR (2015 revision). 

She also highlighted the publication and dissemination of legal instruments through media such as newspapers, televisions and radios, and dissemination activities in Vientiane and provinces.

In the first half of the year, the Standing Committee of the National Assembly approved 20 senior position appointments proposed by Prime Minister Sonexay Siphandone.

The National Assembly has monitored the implementation of pilot mining projects and the promotion of domestic production, rural development and poverty reduction.

It also supervised capacity building for people’s representatives at central and provincial levels and evaluated law enforcement in the social and cultural sectors.

Preparation for hosting the 45th ASEAN International Parliamentary Assembly (AIPA) General Meeting and other meetings within the AIPA framework was also emphasized at today’s meeting.
